Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia called on Saturday for an "immediate, durable and lasting ceasefire" in the fighting in the Gaza Strip. The countries said they were publishing their statement to give a good and fair reflection of the discussions on the situation in Gaza, during a meeting of leaders from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

Indonesian President Joko Widodo met with US President Joe Biden, and called on Washington to do more to stop the "atrocities" in the Gaza Strip. According to Widodo, "a ceasefire is a necessity for the good of humanity."

The Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, announced that Malaysia will not recognize unilateral sanctions, in response to an American bill to impose sanctions against supporters of "militant groups operating in Palestine". "The bill may affect Malaysia only if it is proven that it provides support to Hamas or Islamic Jihad."
